On Thursday May 30th come by the Tin Roof to catch a spirited night of great Indie music. Opening are Charleston locals, Easy Honey, an upbeat group with clever lyrics and tight harmonies. Traveling act Phantom Phunk follows bringing with them their psychedelic Alt-Rock-Rap sound comparable to the Gorillaz. Closing the night is A Fragile Tomorrow, a Charleston band with clean grooves and reverb laden vocals that bring psychedelic undertones similar to Tame Impala and Foals.

Phantom Phunk

Tampa based three-piece with an upbeat sound and psychedelic flares resembling the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, No Doubt and the Gorillaz. Founded out of their home studio, dubbed Harmonic Factory, the group began working on their first album, Arboles Ossific (2016). Their debut release showcased a group of explorative songwriters whose signature style was bound to no genre and embraced the unexpected. As advocates of environmentalism, the band wrote their sophomore album, Turtle Stand (2017), in an effort to bring awareness against animal cruelty. Since then, Phantom Phunk has transformed into a three-piece core, and now consists of Alexa Toro on vocals, Nick Emiliozzi on drums and Hector Fontanet on guitar. Tracks from their latest EP, Struggle With Me (2018), also include features from local hip-hop artist Cloud Master Price.

Phantom Phunk will be celebrating the release of their new single “Memory’s a Ghost” and getting to know the good people of Charleston, including the fellas from local groups, Easy Honey and A Fragile Tomorrow. Both bands sport a natural energy on stage that is fun and easy going, perfect to kick back and catch a buzz to. Phantom Phunk will be visiting from their home state of Florida. Their eclectic blend of alt-indie and rap reflects the range of their inspiration from artists like the Gorillaz to Metric, while their live show is an experience worthy of kick starting the weekend.
