About

Phantom Phunk is a music project based out of Tampa studio Harmonic Factory. Originally starting out as a rock band in 2016, the group has since developed into a songwriting team generating contemporary music with urban and experimental flares. Despite their evolution, the group continues to incorporate live instrumentation within their beats and live production. As a result, their sound is unique yet still reflective of their diverse influences which range from the Gorillaz to Gnarls Barkley. The group is comprised of four members: Parry Ace on lead vocals, Cloudmaster Price as MC, Nick Emiliozzi on drums and Hector Fontanet on guitar and synth. Since 2019, the group has produced all of their music and media content.

Phantom Phunk musical ambiguity allows them to roam between genre styles ranging from psychedelic rock to cloud rap. Their live show is an energetic, genre bending spectacle of sound, lights and imagery.

Forming in 2016 as a rock band, Phantom Phunk have evolved their sound to become more eclectic. The fusion between funk-filled guitar work and soulful vocal melodies blend spectacularly against the hip-hop beat and rapping style.

Skope Magazine

Phantom Phunk is made up of four members: Hector A Fontanet on guitar, bass & keys, Nick Emiliozzi on drums, Wayne “Cloudmaster” Price on rap vocals and Parry “Ace” Kitt on vocals. Together, these four artists bring a sound that is outside-the-box and comes across as a breath of fresh air to the listener. Mixing Indie Rock, Alternative, psychedelic rock and hip-hop makes for a Phantom Phunk experience you won’t soon forget! I picked up on a slight Gorillaz influence with the meshing of the alt-rock and rap, but honestly Phantom Phunk is their own brand with their own, distinct flavor.

Phantom Phunk is literally one of those bands that are impossible to dislike. For starters, they are refreshingly different, each boasting eclectic styles that screams out wild and free. Musically, they take chances, never settling for formal or orthodox.

Dancing About Architecture

Some bands are happy to follow fashion, others try to create new sounds and scenes. I suspect that Phantom Phunk fall into a third category in that they really don’t care what anyone else is doing as long as they are having fun. And it sounds like they are having a lot of fun at that!

Herein lay the difference between Phantom Phunk and so many of their contemporaries. There is no pretentious posturing, no attempt to look cool for the sake of it, no effort to pander to any given set of aesthetic ideals.

They just do what they have to do, to make explosive ass-kicking songs, which one minute lean toward incendiary alternative rock, and then the next towards emotional arty punk, before forging some streetwise swagger.

Dancing About Architecture

It isn’t often that new genres are born, or perhaps old genres destroyed but that seems to be what Phantom Phunk are all about, knocking down musical divides, hopping generic divides and finding new territory to dance in. They say that can only break the rules once you have learned the rules. This is a band who sound like they weren’t even aware that a rulebook existed in the first place. What a healthy concept.

the band blew my brains out of my ears. seriously, i don't know how well this video captures it, but they fucking shred. it was super cool rocking with them; literally some of the most endearing musicians i've ever met.

if you haven't checked their new EP, "Struggle With Me," i'd strongly recommend doing that soon. these cats are bending genres upside-down. and trust me when i tell you that you need to see them perform live.
